General Garden Meeting 5.8.21

 

2nd Garden Meeting of 2021 Agenda

Saturday, May 8 at 9am

1)     9:00 AM Call to Order.

2)     Announcements

a.  June Steering Committee Meeting – Monday, June 7 at 7pm Via Zoom

            First Monday of the month at 7pm

b.     June Garden Meeting – June 12 at 9:00 AM Via Zoom

            Second Saturday of the month at 9am

c.     Phillips Clean Sweep – Saturday October 9th – Free cleaning supplies at 9:00 AM at the Welna Parking Lot, Clean the ‘hood and community gathering at Stewart Park Noon to 2:00 PM.

e.      Garden Fall Harvest Party: Saturday, October 16th from 4:30 PM until the fire goes out.

f.       Plots must be planted by the first Saturday in June, (June 1st) (or they will be reassigned)

3)     How to Pay the Plot & Key Fee and Submit the required Garden Use Agreement:

a.      Please make checks payable to “EPIC Garden”. Place Cash or Check in a sealed envelope with “EPIC Garden”, your name and plot # and the amount you are paying on the outside. Checks may be mailed to EPIC Garden, 2433 Bloomington Ave. S., Mpls., MN 55404. Do not mail cash. Drop envelopes into the mail slot on the Right (South) side of the EPIC office door at the same address.

b.      Garden Use Agreement Forms are located in an envelope on the EPIC Office door (2433 Bloomington) and in the Garden Work Groups Binder in the Garden Shed. Each gardener in each plot must read and sign the agreement and drop it in the mail slot at the EPIC garden or leave it in the Binder in the Garden Shed.

5)  Work groups:

a.      The fence on the north side of the garden is almost fixed - thanks to the wonderful volunteers who helped

b.      Next priority is clearing paths, especially on the Southside and westside of the garden

c.      Are people interested in having set work days?

                                               i.          Or ask people to fill out When2meet?

6) Transition from Brad as lead gardener

       Ideas?

       Idea that Steering Committee has access to a shared Drive including use agreements, history, finances

       Paper copies for people who don’t use computers as much

7) Tools

       What is there not enough of?

       Smaller hand tools i.e. clippers

       Digging fork

8) Syringe disposal box - how do people feel about having a permanent box installed?

       There have been a lot of syringes around the garden, idea to have an

       Emrys and Sarah have looked into what is involved in this

       Want gardeners feedback, hear any concerns or questions

       If gardeners support the idea outreach on the block would be done regarding questions and/or concerns

       Be sure to check with the orgs/schools affiliated with children about this
